PRESENTING...
Mrs. Kristie King
Clara Love Elementary Vice Principal
Tell us something about yourself?
I am a “family gal”! I love to celebrate the accomplishments of my husband (a coach in NISD) and two daughters, Kaylea (8 years) and Kenzie (2 years)!
What dreams do you have for the future?
My most pressing dream is to help the children, families, and faculty of Clara Love Elementary develop a positive, “can do” spirit for the “Lil’ Texans”. We have a vision of Clara Love Elementary being an “exemplar” campus- a model for others to look to see best practices in the education field!
Who was your role model when you were a kid and why?
My mom and dad were (and still are!) my role models. My parents divorced, and my mom had to become a very strong and independent woman quickly- she showed me how to be professional and maintain a soft side. My dad is the most generous man I know, always giving of himself to others without ever thinking of the personal cost- his actions always remind me to put others needs before my own.
When you were in elementary school did you have a favorite subject?
Reading, Reading, Reading! I read every series I could get my hands on! My favorites were Nancy Drew, The Hardy Boys, and Little House on the Prairie. When I got to 5th grade, I read every biography the school librarian had on the shelf! I loved to read about other peoples’ lives!
Do you have pets? How many and what kind?
Not yet, but we are waiting for just the right time to get a Yorkie! The plan is to name her “Madge” short for “Majesty”- (from the book The Mysterious Tales of the Benedict Society!) Her name will help her to fit in perfectly with the royal King family!
What advice do you have for the Clara Love students?
I want to remind each child to stand strong and unwavering in his/her beliefs. What is important to you? What do you want to be remembered for? What do you want people to see when they look at you? Know that life is filled with millions of choices, and knowing who you are, and what you stand for, will simplify the many tough decisions ahead.
**Thank you Mrs. King for participating in the Clara Love PTA Spotlight!!
