Ms. Marcia Scales

Clara Love Elementary Reading Recovery Teacher

Tell us something about yourself?

I am a Reading Recovery teacher at Clara Love Elementary School.  This is my 5th year in the district, however, I have been teaching Reading Recovery since 1990.  I started teaching reading in Irving ISD, then went on and taught in Grapevine ISD before coming to Northwest.   I also work with 2nd and kindergarten students at Clara Love.   I will also assist classroom teachers with TAKS preparation in the spring.

What dreams do you have for the future?

When I was a Haslet for two years, I participated with Drama Club  with the 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders at that school.  We put on several productions for the student body. I found this to be an enjoyable experience for me and I would someday like to teach Drama.

Do you have a favorite quote?

"You're your neighbor as yourself"

Who was your role model when you were a kid and why?

I don’t remember a particular person, but I would often role play a teacher and mommy with babies.

When you were in elementary school did you have a favorite subject?

I enjoyed my art classes.

Do you have pets? How many and what kind?

I once had a dachshund named Charlie. He lived with my daughter and I for 12 years.  He died several years ago.

What advice do you have for the Clara Love students?

Do your very best with a positive attitude and things will work out in your favor each day.
